Resource Management

Getting started with resource planning, planning one person

The most difficult task is to realistically plan the staff for a project. In addition to the large amount of inaccurate information, complexity is also a challenge.

Can Do supports every conceivable variant of resource planning. The central task for the planner is to plan the work for people in such a way that they can also do the work. There should simply be no overloads.

In the first case, a simple work package is created with precise information about the start, duration and end. A resource is now scheduled for 50% of its maximum time.

This example means: Team member Linda has one week to write a concept. It should start on Monday at the earliest and be finished by Friday at the latest. She should try to invest a maximum of 20 hours of work.

The software shows that, taking into account all of Linda's other work, that can be done for you. How Linda now organises her work in detail is up to her. Whether she works on the concept for 4 hours on Monday or not at all and more on Tuesday, etc. is not specified in detail. Can Do simulates all possible combinations of how Linda can organize her work. If the AI models are realistic for Linda, the software shows no danger. It is therefore possible to do this in this way.

The situation is different when the project manager now schedules Linda's work package a week earlier. Can Do probably find an overload here, regardless of how Linda organizes this work — writing the concept — and all other work. It'll always be overloaded.

Can Do did not find a combination of work organization that would fit. The planning therefore shows that Linda would certainly be overburdened in this case.
